Jalina Brown grew up in a small town in midcoast Maine and has been acting since she was six years old. After graduating from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Communications, she moved to Los Angeles to continue her career in television and film. She often plays the "Goody-Two-Shoes, Type-A Class Valedictorian" or "Ruthless Career-Ladder-Climbing Young Intern" but also loves playing quirky, unhinged characters.
She has since landed the lead role as Zoey in the Lifetime Network thriller Are My Friends Killers? (also known as Secrets on Campus), as a lead role in the upcoming queer-led horror/comedy short They Slay. Her role as the snarky British filmmaker will debut in the comedy short Doomed, premiering at the Marina del Rey Film Festival this Spring.

Be the person you needed when you were younger.
“My passion since I was a kid has been to tell stories that represent a variety of people from all walks of life. From a young age, I was fascinated by filmmaking but rarely saw myself represented on screen. As a biracial girl from a small town in Maine, I desperately wanted to see black or multiracial people with curly hair like mine, but they were few and far between. I made it my goal to create and seek out roles that allowed me to tell my story and the stories of other underrepresented groups. While there's a lot more diversity represented in media these days, there's so many more stories to be told.
Representation is humanizing, and I hope to communicate to my audience that their stories are important and vital. I hope to be the person I needed when I was younger so that someday a goofy, curly-haired, biracial kid can see themself represented on screen."
